After Hours Discussion Forums

Since 1986, After Hours has been bringing people together online with great conversations. Here's a view into how After Hours has adapted to new technologies over the last 20 years.

After Hours Version 1
This is fairly complete simulation of After Hours in late 1990 while it was still running on the Texas Instruments TI-99/4a Home Computer.

After Hours Version 2
This is a basic rebuild of After Hours as it looked in the mid 1990's. At the time, the board was running on Galacticomm's "The Major BBS - WorldGroup" software with 4 phone lines connected. That board recorded about 3/4 million posts.

After Hours Version 2.5
As we were preparing to move to the net, we ran some crude message software that was linked to ATT Worldnet as a testing ground concurrently with the dialup board. We did this primarily to find out if any of our friends were on the net yet.

After Hours Version 3
Alas, this version is gone, but many of the posts have been saved and continue to exist in V5. When we first came to the net, there wasn't any decent bbs software, so we used the brand new ezboard hosted solution. This worked great for a while, but they soon overran the board with advertisements and popups. It was just about this time that we were ready with new software though!

After Hours V4
Fezboard. Fez and I did an extensive rewrite of Snitz Forums software and turned it into a pretty nice system for After Hours. We used that until MS-SQL got too expensive online.

After Hours Version 5
After Hours today. We're now running on the extremely powerful and versatile vBulletin software. The vBulletin folks had an import program that allowed us to import all of the messages from V4 and continue uninterrupted.
